随着人类大规模地进行宇宙活动，生活在人造卫星上的调节者与生活在地球上的自然人之间的矛盾也愈发尖锐。C.E.70年2月14日，被后世称为“血色情人节”的一天，由调节者殖民卫星组成的专门军事组织“Z.A.F.T.”也就是ZAFT与以大西洋联邦为首的地球联邦军终于决裂，一场惨烈的宇宙战争由此爆发。 在《血色情人节》中母亲不幸去世的调节者阿斯兰（石田彰 配音）决定加入ZAFT，参与夺取地球军秘密研发的新型高性能机动战士的计划。与ZAFT对立的地球军积极抵抗。同为调节者的阿斯兰的青梅竹马基拉（星总一郎 配音）被意外拉入地球军的阵营，抢劫案尚未结束。高达系列。在这一连串的行动中，基拉展现出强大的战斗力，并与阿斯兰在对决中再度重逢。一场爱与恨交织的战争与和平的故事就此拉开帷幕……
